Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the physical therapist in delivering high-quality, patient-centered treatment plans
- Provide therapeutic interventions, gait training, transfers and mobility support under PT direction
- Document patient progress and response to treatment accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians and rehab team members to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe, clean environment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating compassion and clear communication
Qualifications
- Licensed or license-eligible Physical Therapist Assistant in Massachusetts
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Comfortable working a schedule that covers all days of the week as the assignment requires
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Previous experience in inpatient rehab or skilled nursing settings is a plus
Education
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or graduation from an accredited PTA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with therapeutic modalities, transfers and gait training
- Skilled in documentation practices and clinical charting
- Ability to follow PT-established plans of care and safely implement interventions
- Patient education and family coaching skills
- Time management, adaptability, and a calm approach to fast-paced care environments
