Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care for assigned patients during weekend coverage
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and intervene or escalate concerns per unit protocols
• Perform timely assessments, document findings accurately in the medical record, and coordinate care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Respond to emergent situations using NIHSS, ACLS and NRP skills where appropriate
• Complete required competency testing and maintain mandatory certifications and screenings

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be valid for practice in Iowa)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NRP certification for newborn resuscitation
• AWHONN training or demonstrated experience in maternal/newborn care
• Demonstrated competency in fetal heart monitoring
• Completion of required health screenings and background verifications per facility checklist

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart monitoring interpretation and documentation skills
• Proficiency in neonatal resuscitation principles
• Skilled patient assessment and rapid clinical decision making
• Familiarity with NIHSS for stroke assessment when needed
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation and unit-specific competency testing
• Excellent communication and teamwork with patients, families and clinical staff
