Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and patient education to ensure safe, informed surgical starts
• Provide vigilant PACU care with 1:1 monitoring of post-op cardiac and vascular patients
• Manage advanced cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia recognition, arterial line and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Assess and manage airways, chest tubes, central lines and IV therapies (including blood product administration)
• Interpret arterial blood gases and collaborate on respiratory and hemodynamic interventions
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary team
• Support emergency responses and participate in rapid response or code situations as needed
• Deliver compassionate pain assessment and post-op education to optimize recovery and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Ohio)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience (pre-op/PACU or cardiac/perioperative experience required)
• Epic charting experience (required)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Level I trauma experience preferred; PACU experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Comfort providing 1:1 patient care in high-acuity cardiac and vascular post-op settings

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; ADN/diploma or BSN acceptable (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Pre-op and post-op nursing care and patient education
• Phase I PACU management and recovery of patients after anesthesia
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and arterial/Swan-Ganz line management
• Central line, PICC and IV therapy management; blood product administration
• Chest tube management and airway assessment
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Familiarity with cardiac and vascular surgical cases (CABG, TAVR, EVAR, bypasses, angiogram, ablation)
• Strong documentation skills in Epic and effective interdisciplinary communication
