Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility).
• Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate changes to the nursing team promptly.
• Support nurses by performing delegated clinical tasks and following care plans with attention to detail.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and facility protocols at all times.
• Document patient interactions and care provided clearly and professionally in the patient record.
• Observe and report behavioral or clinical changes to ensure timely interventions and patient safety.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to deliver respectful, person-centered care in a correctional healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (required).
• Completion of a state-approved CNA program and demonstrated competency in patient care.
• Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment and following security protocols.
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings as per facility policy.
• Dependable, professional, and able to work the scheduled PM shifts, including weekends.

Education

• Completion of an accredited/state-approved CNA training program.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care skills including bathing, feeding, ambulation and toileting assistance.
• Proficient in taking and recording vital signs accurately.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and ability to follow facility protocols.
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and teammates.
• Good observational skills and the ability to escalate concerns appropriately.
• Time management and documentation skills to keep patient care organized and consistent.
