Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility).
- Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate changes to the nursing team promptly.
- Support nurses by performing delegated clinical tasks and following care plans with attention to detail.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and facility protocols at all times.
- Document patient interactions and care provided clearly and professionally in the patient record.
- Observe and report behavioral or clinical changes to ensure timely interventions and patient safety.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to deliver respectful, person-centered care in a correctional healthcare setting.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (required).
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program and demonstrated competency in patient care.
- Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment and following security protocols.
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings as per facility policy.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work the scheduled PM shifts, including weekends.
Education
- Completion of an accredited/state-approved CNA training program.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills including bathing, feeding, ambulation and toileting assistance.
- Proficient in taking and recording vital signs accurately.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and ability to follow facility protocols.
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients and teammates.
- Good observational skills and the ability to escalate concerns appropriately.
- Time management and documentation skills to keep patient care organized and consistent.
