Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate, timely chemistry and hematology testing in a high-volume, hospital-based lab
• Operate and troubleshoot Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzers and Sysmex hematology instruments
• Maintain quality control, document results, and escalate critical values appropriately
• Support cross-functional lab needs as a generalist with limited blood bank responsibilities
• Contribute to a safe, compliant workplace by following lab policies and participating in competency assessments
• Communicate clearly with clinical teams and collaborate to ensure excellent patient care

Qualifications

• ASCP certification required (MT or MLT)
• Active MT/MLT certification or equivalent clinical laboratory credential
• Current or very recent high-volume, hospital-based chemistry experience required
• Strong experience in hematology and generalist testing; limited blood bank experience expected
• Experience with Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzers and Sysmex hematology platforms
• Familiarity with Beaker and SoftLab strongly preferred
• Willingness to work varied shifts, every-other-weekend, and participate in holiday rotation
• Ability to float to nearby facilities if needed

Knowledge & Skills

• High-volume chemistry workflows and troubleshooting
• Hematology analysis and instrument operation (Sysmex)
• Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzer operation and maintenance
• Laboratory information systems knowledge (Beaker, SoftLab preferred)
• Quality control, documentation, and regulatory compliance (CLIA/CAP awareness)
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication with clinical staff
