Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate, timely chemistry and hematology testing in a high-volume, hospital-based lab
- Operate and troubleshoot Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzers and Sysmex hematology instruments
- Maintain quality control, document results, and escalate critical values appropriately
- Support cross-functional lab needs as a generalist with limited blood bank responsibilities
- Contribute to a safe, compliant workplace by following lab policies and participating in competency assessments
- Communicate clearly with clinical teams and collaborate to ensure excellent patient care
Qualifications
- ASCP certification required (MT or MLT)
- Active MT/MLT certification or equivalent clinical laboratory credential
- Current or very recent high-volume, hospital-based chemistry experience required
- Strong experience in hematology and generalist testing; limited blood bank experience expected
- Experience with Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzers and Sysmex hematology platforms
- Familiarity with Beaker and SoftLab strongly preferred
- Willingness to work varied shifts, every-other-weekend, and participate in holiday rotation
- Ability to float to nearby facilities if needed
Knowledge & Skills
- High-volume chemistry workflows and troubleshooting
- Hematology analysis and instrument operation (Sysmex)
- Ortho 5600 chemistry analyzer operation and maintenance
- Laboratory information systems knowledge (Beaker, SoftLab preferred)
- Quality control, documentation, and regulatory compliance (CLIA/CAP awareness)
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication with clinical staff
