Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents — assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication
- Maintain clean, safe resident environments by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts to support continuity of care
- Assist nursing staff with care plans and follow directions from licensed nurses to meet individualized resident needs
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Maine) or eligible to obtain state certification
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- A caring attitude, strong communication skills, and reliability
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, including lifting and mobility assistance
- Successful completion of background checks and any facility-required screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on patient care and personal care support
- Basic vital sign measurement and documentation
- Infection control best practices and safe patient handling
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents and families
- Teamwork and ability to follow direction from licensed nursing staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
