Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and kindness
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
• Provide safe transfer and mobility assistance to reduce fall risk and promote independence
• Perform hands-on personal care while following infection control and safety protocols
• Document care accurately and timely to support continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
• Create a warm, reassuring environment for patients and their families

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (state-certified; Maine preferred or eligible to obtain)
• CPR/BLS certification required or must be obtained per facility policy
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
• Strong communication skills, compassion, and ability to work well in a team
• Previous CNA experience preferred but enthusiastic, caring new grads may be considered

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic patient care techniques and safe transfer methods
• Ability to take and document accurate vital signs
• Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize patient needs
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-first attitude
