Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care to residents in accordance with established care plans
• Administer medications and document accurately and timely
• Assess and monitor vital signs, reporting changes to the care team
• Perform wound care and other delegated clinical procedures with competence
• Collaborate with RNs, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate residents and families on care plans and self-care where appropriate
• Maintain clear, concise documentation in the medical record and support continuity of care
• Contribute to a safe, compassionate environment that respects resident dignity

Qualifications

• Valid LPN license (Licensed Practical Nurse) — Maine licensure required or compact/transferable per state rules
• Current BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications (e.g., IV therapy) a plus
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar setting preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to follow care plans, manage time, and prioritize patient needs

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent LPN diploma/certificate

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of basic nursing principles and practical nursing procedures
• Comfort with medication administration and accurate charting
• Skilled in resident assessment and recognizing changes in condition
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safety procedures
• Able to use electronic health records and document thoroughly
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
