Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day food service operations across the campus to deliver high-quality meals and exceptional customer service
- Coordinate and supervise cafeteria, patient meal service, room service, and catering lines to ensure smooth food production
- Develop and maintain standardized recipes and menus that meet clinical and departmental standards
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate food service staff while approving payroll and vacation time
- Ensure compliance with accrediting bodies, hospital policies, and food safety regulations
- Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and sanitation practices to maintain efficiency and safety
- Act as a department role model—resolving conflicts, improving processes, and driving departmental goals
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, clinical staff, and leadership to support patient-centered service
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Minimum 4 years management/leadership experience in hospital, institutional, or restaurant cooking (required)
- 2–4 years cooking experience (required) with 2+ years in food preparation, sanitation, purchasing and managing food service operations
- Current nutrition/food service supervisory or leadership experience (required)
- Experience with food service EMR or nutrition software — required; please note this experience on your profile
- CSM or CFPP preferred (Certified Dietary Manager / Certified Food Protection Professional)
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Medical terminology coursework preferred
- Traveler must have own vehicle and provide permanent address at profile upload
- Important: Facility will not consider travelers who reside within 50 miles of the facility
Education
- High school diploma (required)
- CSM/CFPP/ServSafe (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong food service management and leadership skills
- Menu planning and recipe standardization with attention to patient nutrition needs
- Hands-on cooking and food preparation expertise
- Solid knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with payroll, scheduling, purchasing, and inventory control
- Customer-service focus with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to supervise, train, and motivate a diverse team
- Familiarity with food service EMR and nutrition software systems
