Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care (PCU) nursing at a 3:1 acuity ratio when required
• Manage med-surg/telemetry patients safely and confidently at a typical 1:5 patient ratio
• Serve as charge nurse when scheduled — lead the team, coordinate care, and support staff
• Administer and manage IV drips and titratable medications with attention to safety
• Monitor telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Float to inpatient units as needed, delivering consistent, competent care across settings
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Active Vermont RN license (or Compact with Vermont eligibility) — must be uploaded
• Minimum 2+ years current med-surg/telemetry experience (required)
• Charge nurse experience — required (please note on profile)
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience — strongly required
• IV drip/titration experience — required
• Minimum 3 months prior travel nursing experience — required and non-negotiable
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• One supervisory (signed) reference within the past two years — required
• Own vehicle for this assignment and permanent address included on profile
• Willingness to float to other inpatient units within scope of practice

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Proficiency with IV drips and complex medication administration
• Charge nurse leadership, delegation, and team coordination
• Adaptive acuity skills — comfort working in units that flex between PCU and med-surg
• Critical thinking, triage, and rapid clinical decision-making
• Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort working in a small critical access hospital environment
