Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for labor, delivery, postpartum, and mother-baby patients
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization when needed, using NRP and STABLE protocols
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiology, and lactation consultants
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, document assessments, and escalate changes in condition
• Support Cesarean deliveries in the OR and assist with perioperative nursing tasks
• Educate families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery to promote confident transitions home
• Maintain up-to-date skills checklists and certifications, and participate in unit orientation and training

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Registered Nurse license, active and uploaded with profile
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum 2 years current Labor & Delivery experience
• Postpartum / Mother-Baby experience required
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Active STABLE certification
• Current Skills Checklists for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother Baby (within 1 year)
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
• Must have own vehicle and permanent address included in profile
• Agency must submit Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License with traveler profile

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on expertise in Labor & Delivery and postpartum mother-baby care
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and early stabilization protocols
• Strong teamwork and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable supporting Cesarean births and working with anesthesia in the OR
• Detail-oriented clinical documentation and patient assessment skills
• Patient and family education, including lactation support and discharge planning
