Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to progressive care and med-surg patients
• Manage and care for tracheostomies, chest tubes, and ventilated/stable vented patients with confidence
• Assess patient status, intervene appropriately, and escalate changes to the care team
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips and other complex infusions safely
• Document care accurately in the EMR (Cerner) and communicate effectively during handoffs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Support a positive patient experience by educating patients and families and advocating for their needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential (per facility/state requirements)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (required)
• Hands-on experience with trach care (required)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Experience in progressive care (PCU) or med-surg settings
• Comfortable caring for patients with ventilators, chest tubes, and cardiac drips
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Trach care and suctioning best practices
• Ventilator basics and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Chest tube management and wound care
• Cardiac drip titration and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Progressive care and med-surg patient assessment
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
