Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans under the direction of licensed physical therapists to help patients regain function and independence
• Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, assistive device training, and therapeutic exercises that make a measurable difference
• Document patient progress clearly and timely, ensuring continuity of care and strong communication with the care team
• Educate patients and families on safety, home exercise programs, and strategies to support recovery
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teammates to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment while following facility policies and infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
• Clinical experience as a PTA preferred; facility will consider new grads with strong clinical education
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients per facility safety guidelines

Education

• Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or equivalent from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with therapeutic exercise techniques, gait training, and modalities commonly used in rehabilitation settings
• Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and progress note writing
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and following care plans
• Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and family education
• Good clinical judgment and the ability to adapt treatments based on patient response

This is a contract assignment based in Piscataway.
