Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, schedule varies (36-hour guarantee); may include days, nights and weekends. Local candidates may be considered for 1-13 week contracts (50-mile radius). Note: all scheduling requests must be made at time of submission.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess surgical patients before and during procedures and develop individualized plans of care that prioritize safety
• Implement, evaluate and adjust perioperative care throughout surgery to ensure optimal outcomes
• Provide leadership and supervision in the OR, coordinating the team and anticipating schedule changes
• Assemble and verify equipment and supplies, assist anesthesia when needed, and monitor the sterile field
• Document patient care clearly and communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and ancillary teams
• Participate in staff development through preceptorship, in-services and continuing education to grow your skills

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of RN OR experience (required)
• Level 2 Trauma experience (required)
• Proficient across Orthopedics, Vascular, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Gynecology and Urology (required)
• Active Michigan RN license (must be active and verifiable via LARA/Nursys) (required)
• Current American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Recent travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Completed skills checklist relevant to the Operating Room within the last year (required)
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Surgical patient assessment and individualized care plan development
• Implementation and evaluation of perioperative care and strong patient safety focus
• Sterile technique and sterile field monitoring
• OR team coordination, leadership and supervisory skills
• Equipment and supply assembly and familiarity with robotic-assisted surgery
• Clear documentation and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with Epic EMR is a plus
• Preceptorship and staff development experience
