Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; specific days to be confirmed)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and safe ambulation using proper technique
Take and record vital signs, report changes in condition promptly to nursing staff
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident observations
Support mealtime assistance and ensure dignity during feeding and hydration
Communicate effectively with the care team and residents' families to promote resident-centered care
Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a safe, clean environment

Qualifications

GNA certification (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, respectful approach to elders
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
Skill in taking vital signs and recognizing changes in resident status
Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
Good documentation practices and attention to detail
Compassionate communication and teamwork
