Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes promptly
- Support meal assistance and observe dietary needs and intake
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Communicate clearly with nurses, families and the care team about resident status
- Document care activities and observations in the resident record in a timely manner
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent is required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
- Ability to pass facility-required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care skills with attention to safety and dignity
- Basic clinical knowledge of vital signs and infection control practices
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers, following safe techniques
- Good documentation practices and timely communication with the care team
- Empathy, patience and the ability to build rapport with older adults
