Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults, helping with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Take and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support mobility and safe transfer techniques to prevent falls and injuries
- Document resident care accurately and communicate clearly during shift handoffs
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful interaction
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment
Qualifications
- State-certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required where applicable
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting those with complex needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a team
- Background check and any required facility screenings completed as part of onboarding
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and long-term care best practices
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Patient transfer and safe lifting techniques
- Familiarity with documentation and electronic health record basics
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
