Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, dignified care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and lift techniques
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance, monitoring intake and reporting changes
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection control procedures
- Document care and resident interactions accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families, fostering comfort and reassurance
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you’ll be the hands-on caregiver residents rely on
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and facility screening requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a team-player attitude
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but enthusiastic newcomers are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Comfort with documentation and following care plans
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Good communication skills with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Observation skills to notice and report changes in condition
- Ability to manage time effectively during busy shifts
