Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform generalist bench testing across blood bank, hematology, chemistry, coagulation, serology and basic microbiology
• Operate and document testing in EPIC and other laboratory instrumentation with accuracy and accountability
• Prioritize and report STAT and routine results within required turnaround times
• Collect and verify specimens including venipuncture, blood cultures, timed specimens and special collections
• Troubleshoot specimen or testing problems and communicate resolutions clearly and promptly
• Exercise sound judgment in routine and emergency laboratory procedures
• Maintain quality control, follow established procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• MT or MLT required (Medical Technologist preferred)
• ASCP certification (or equivalent) required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Technology program or equivalent academic study with a 12-month accredited internship
• Demonstrated EPIC experience and blood bank competency
• Hands-on experience with hematology, chemistry, coagulation, serology and phlebotomy
• Ability to consistently meet STAT reporting expectations and required TATs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education

• Completion of a Medical Technology Program approved by CLSI OR
• Three years of accredited academic study plus 12 consecutive months of internship in an accredited medical technology program (leading to a Bachelor's degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of blood bank testing and procedures
• Competence in chemistry, special chemistry and hematology testing
• Familiarity with coagulation and serology workflows
• Basic microbiology exposure and blood culture collection skills
• Specimen collection expertise including venipuncture and difficult draws
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation, quality control and documentation
• Turnaround time (TAT) and STAT result reporting proficiency
• Good judgment, time management and prioritization abilities
