Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to Med-Surg and post-operative spine/ortho patients, ensuring safe recovery and comfort
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Collaborate with ED teams for seamless transitions and effective emergency interventions
• Administer medications and treatments accurately following hospital protocols and ACLS/BLS/PALS/TNCC guidelines
• Participate in bedside handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate patient-centered care
• Maintain infection control practices and state-required vaccination compliance
• Support patient and family education to promote recovery and reduce readmissions

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license (required)
• Active certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (current)
• Experience with spine/orthopedic post-op patients required, with emphasis on Med-Surg skills
• Emergency Department (ED) experience and strong triage/critical thinking skills preferred
• Comfort working nights and required to work holidays when scheduled
• Ability to work patient ratios up to 1:5 and manage priorities in a fast-paced setting
• COVID-19 vaccination required per state mandate

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong post-operative patient care knowledge, including wound care and pain management
• Med-Surgical nursing fundamentals and ability to care for multiple complex patients
• Emergency response skills and experience in fast-paced ED environments
• Proficient in patient assessment, documentation, and medication administration
• Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, ED staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication, time management, and prioritization skills
