Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient function using formal and informal testing to determine musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status
- Develop goal-specific, evidence-based treatment plans and document them as part of the physician-authorized plan of care
- Submit written treatment regimes and update plans of care to reflect changes in patient status
- Devise frequency- and duration-specific treatment schedules and coordinate them with patients, families, and clinical support staff
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, prognosis, alternatives, and rationale for treatments and interventions
- Delegate, supervise, and provide oversight for Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides; co-sign verbal orders from PTAs as necessary
Qualifications
- Active Michigan physical therapy license required (must be active)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Physical therapy (PT) experience required
- Outpatient experience required; role is primarily outpatient with some acute care exposure
- Strong documentation skills and ability to submit timely, complete plans of care
- Work history and skills checklist current to 1 year required
- Two supervisory reference forms dated within the last two years required
- Facility requirement: candidates must have a permanent address outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

- Patient, family, and caregiver education
- Accurate clinical documentation and plan-of-care management
- Scheduling treatments and coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams
- Supervision and mentoring of PT Assistants and Aides
- Ability to follow physician orders and facility policies and procedures
