Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered care in Labor and Delivery for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Perform fetal monitoring and recognize/treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns using EFM and internal monitoring as needed
• Start and maintain IVs, manage infusion pumps and drips, and administer medications such as magnesium sulfate and Pitocin
• Assist and circulate for Cesarean sections and support immediate postpartum and recovery care
• Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR assessment, radiant warmer management and cord sample collection
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education during the postpartum period
• Use Epic for charting and documentation to ensure accurate, timely patient records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including rapid response, pharmacy and respiratory services to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Active BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• NCC C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN Advanced
• Demonstrated IV start and infusion pump/drip management skills
• Epic charting experience required
• Willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• Previous travel experience preferred

Education

• Active RN license (per Ohio state requirements)
• Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery best practices and high-risk antepartum care
• External and internal fetal heart monitoring (EFM), spiral electrode and IUPC use
• Neonatal delivery room care and APGAR assessment
• IV therapy, phlebotomy and central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance
• Infusion pump/drip management and medication administration
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring basics
• Cesarean section assistance, circulating and recovery skills
• Postpartum assessments including fundus, lochia and wound care
• Comfortable with triage, sterile vaginal exams and nonstress testing
