Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident status, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help with meal setup and feeding as needed, observing dietary instructions and resident preferences
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation in resident records to support continuity of care
• Promote a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families and the care team to ensure person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and activities of daily living
• Basic ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and charting
• Understanding of infection control, safety procedures and resident rights
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a care team
