Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights). Night schedule: 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination; assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Orientation: Week 1 is Monday-Friday dayshift; Week 2 is 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Weekend coverage and exact shift assignments are variable based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality direct care to adult and geriatric oncology patients
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy safely, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions
• Monitor telemetry readings, interpret dysrhythmias, and intervene appropriately
• Participate in clinical trials, assisting with data collection and accurate documentation
• Perform specialized procedures such as brachytherapy and neobladder care with attention to safety
• Maintain central lines, manage IV therapy and blood product administration with best practices
• Implement and champion infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention strategies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response teams when needed
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using EPIC
• Provide feeding tube, tracheostomy, and wound/drain care as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (must meet experience requirements within the past 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and familiarity with oncology procedures (brachytherapy preferred)
• Comfort with EPIC charting and computerized documentation
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Willingness to float to other MedSurg Oncology units as needed

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Central line maintenance, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Feeding tube care, NG tubes, Foley catheter care, and tracheostomy management
• Brachytherapy and neobladder post-op care familiarity
• Infection prevention protocols and patient falls management
• Experience with PCA pumps, epidurals, and surgical drains
• Clinical trial documentation and data collection
• Proficient EPIC documentation and electronic charting
• Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and rapid response participation
