Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU and step-down patients, focusing on neuro and complex cases
• Manage and monitor EBD drains safely and confidently
• Assess, plan and implement individualized patient care with strong clinical judgment
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity of care
• Float between the ICU and PMCU (step-down) to meet patient and unit needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, and support staff—to deliver excellent outcomes
• Participate in bedside handoffs and unit triage to maintain a 3:1 step-down ratio

Qualifications

• Current California RN license (required)
• Epic experience within the last year (required for Epic pre-assessment)
• Neuro experience and comfort managing neuro-specific equipment and drains (EBD drains)
• At least 2 years of RN experience in acute care/critical care settings
• Experience in ICU and step-down/PMCU settings; ability to float between units
• TNCC and trauma experience preferred; vascular and cardiothoracic exposure a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and step-down/PMCU workflows
• Neuro patient management and EBD drain care
• Strong Epic documentation and electronic charting skills
• Trauma, vascular, and cardiothoracic case familiarity
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and manage high-acuity patients overnight
• Team communication, bedside reporting, and collaborative care planning
