Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, age-appropriate nursing assessments to establish immediate priorities for care
• Carry out ongoing reassessments and update care plans to reflect patient status
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on physician orders and patient needs
• Administer medications safely using med verification and evaluate patient responses
• Document patient care accurately and timely in accordance with hospital policies
• Coordinate and communicate patient status and plan changes to the multidisciplinary team
• Conduct discharge assessments and ensure patients and families understand follow-up plans
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to improve processes
• Assist in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and respond effectively during events
• Maintain a safe, well-stocked environment and report equipment or safety concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Current Maine Registered Nurse license or compact license
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Immunizations required: Varicella (2 doses or titer), Hep B (3 doses or titer or declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD (2-step or titer within past 12 months); flu shot required during flu season
• Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills and strong critical thinking
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, lift up to 30 lbs, push/pull stretchers and wheelchairs
• Comfort assessing and caring for patients across all age groups
• Current, unexpired credentials and ability to complete agency onboarding paperwork

Education

• BSN preferred

• Medication administration and med verification (five rights)
• Discharge planning and patient/family education
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Critical thinking and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
