Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care in a 28-bed emergency department with trauma and cardiac monitoring capabilities
- Assess, triage, and stabilize patients presenting with acute medical, traumatic, or behavioral health needs
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret rhythm changes to guide interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, trauma teams, and behavioral health staff to coordinate timely patient care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly
- Advocate for patient safety and effective handoffs during shift changes
- Support a fast-paced environment by managing high patient turnover with calm and efficiency
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and team communication initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Hawaii RN license required by the assignment start date
- Experience working in emergency/trauma nursing (experience with cardiac monitoring and behavioral health patients preferred)
- Comfort working nights in a fast-paced, high turnover emergency department
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Current basic life support certification or readiness to obtain as required by facility (verify facility-specific certs during onboarding)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing and trauma care experience
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Behavioral health patient management in the ED setting
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills
- Familiarity with triage processes and emergency documentation
