Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help patients regain independence in daily activities
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful goals
- Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive strategies for ADLs and functional mobility
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
- Document clinical progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety strategies, and adaptive equipment use
- Advocate for patient needs and contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment
Qualifications
- Current COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) credential — required
- Completion of an accredited OTA program (required for COTA credentialing)
- Active ability to work in New Jersey (state requirements/clearances as applicable)
- Clinical experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or post-acute settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and comfort working as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Willingness to complete facility onboarding, background checks, and health screenings as required
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment of ADLs, transfers, and functional mobility
- Treatment planning and therapeutic activity progression
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and splinting basics
- Skilled documentation and charting for clinical and regulatory requirements
- Ability to coach patients and caregivers with patience and clarity
- Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and rehab best practices
