Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful goals
• Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive strategies for ADLs and functional mobility
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
• Document clinical progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety strategies, and adaptive equipment use
• Advocate for patient needs and contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment

Qualifications

• Current COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) credential — required
• Completion of an accredited OTA program (required for COTA credentialing)
• Active ability to work in New Jersey (state requirements/clearances as applicable)
• Clinical experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or post-acute settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and comfort working as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Willingness to complete facility onboarding, background checks, and health screenings as required

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment of ADLs, transfers, and functional mobility
• Treatment planning and therapeutic activity progression
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment and splinting basics
• Skilled documentation and charting for clinical and regulatory requirements
• Ability to coach patients and caregivers with patience and clarity
• Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and rehab best practices
