Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams and vision assessments for patients
• Diagnose and manage ocular disease and coordinate appropriate referrals
• Prescribe and fit corrective lenses as needed and document treatment plans
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the facility charting system
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure continuity of patient care
• Provide patient education on eye health, medications, and follow-up care
• Participate in orientation and any required facility trainings to meet site protocols

Qualifications

• Active orEligible for a California optometrist license (state licensure required prior to patient care)
• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent from an accredited program
• Clinical experience in primary eye care or similar optometry settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and comfort working within a multidisciplinary facility
• Ability to pass facility background checks and complete required onboarding/orientation

Education

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in comprehensive eye exams and refraction
• Knowledgeable in diagnosis and management of common ocular diseases
• Skilled in prescribing and fitting corrective lenses
• Comfortable with patient education and documentation best practices
• Able to collaborate effectively with medical and custodial staff in a correctional environment
• Detail-oriented with strong clinical decision-making abilities
