Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of a physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and function
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care and educate patients and families on home exercise programs
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans
• Assist with therapeutic modalities, transfers, gait training, and adaptive equipment as appropriate
• Monitor patient response and report changes to the supervising physical therapist promptly

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current/state-appropriate PTA license or eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience in rehabilitation, outpatient, or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team

Education

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (or equivalent) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and therapeutic exercise principles
• Experience with gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Skilled in patient assessment, progress monitoring, and care documentation
• Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and patient handling
• Good clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork abilities
