Candidate Pay Rate: $91 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive optometry services including eye exams, refractions, and vision assessments
- Identify and document ocular disease and make appropriate referrals or treatment recommendations
- Fit and instruct patients on contact lenses and assist with vision correction plans
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with facility protocols and security requirements
- Deliver clear, compassionate patient education and ensure continuity of care
- Participate in a 1-week training program and help onboard or train staff as needed
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree preferred
- Active California optometry license or ability to obtain state licensure
- Experience performing comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings
- Comfort working in a correctional facility environment and following facility security procedures
- Strong communication skills and the ability to train others (training required for 1 week)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) preferred; active CA license or eligibility required
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical proficiency in refraction, binocular vision assessment, and ocular health evaluations
- Knowledge of ocular disease detection, diagnosis, and referral processes
- Patient-centered communication and education skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with medical and custodial staff
