Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for laboring mothers and newborns across low- and high-risk scenarios
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using C-EFM and telemetry interpretation to guide safe clinical decisions
• Assist, scrub, and circulate during cesarean sections and support cesarean recovery and postpartum procedures
• Deliver newborn care and neonatal support, including routine assessments and immediate post-delivery care
• Float between Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units as needed to ensure seamless patient coverage
• Accurately document all patient care in Epic to maintain continuity and safety across the care team
• Serve as a preceptor/mentor when called upon to support orientation and skill development of peers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV, respiratory, radiology, social services, pharmacy) to optimize outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (California) — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Labor & Delivery / Mother-Baby care
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (BCLS), NRP
• AWHONN Advanced certification is a hard stop prior to submission; C-EFM accepted in lieu of Advanced AWHONN
• Experience with Epic charting or comparable electronic health record systems
• Ability and willingness to float to Mother/Baby/postpartum units as needed
• Precepting experience preferred but not required — attitude and teaching aptitude welcomed

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery management including 1:1 care in active labor and early labor ratios
• Fetal monitoring (C-EFM) and fetal heart tracing interpretation
• Scrub and circulate roles for cesarean delivery
• Newborn care and immediate neonatal support
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring fundamentals
• Ability to set up a delivery table and perform non-stress tests
• Familiarity with Baby-Friendly practices and postpartum procedures (e.g., PP D&C)
• Strong clinical judgment, clear communication, and teamwork in high-acuity settings
