Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to nursing staff for complex patient care, medication administration, and treatments
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing education for new hires, experienced staff, and students
• Serve as a clinical practice resource and mentor, guiding skill development and safe practice
• Act as a liaison between bedside staff and leadership, communicating concerns and promoting solutions
• Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and design interventions to improve outcomes
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical protocols, equipment, and evidence-based practices with staff training
• Perform quality control audits and report findings to improve accuracy, regulatory compliance, and patient safety
• Advocate for patients and families while promoting ethical standards and the organizational mission

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the state of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; BSN preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC
• High Risk Competency - SEARHC
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to work with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards and acute care procedures
• Ability to manage acutely ill patients and use pertinent medical equipment safely
• Expertise in safe medication administration and patient assessment
• Experience with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with infection control and regulatory standards (OSHA, accreditation)
• Proficient with Electronic Health Record systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Effective teaching methods for adult learners and strong mentorship capabilities
• Calm, clear communication in high-stress situations and strong critical thinking
