Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide on-site prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries at contracted high school events — keep athletes safe and in the game.
• Assess concussions, manage symptom monitoring and supervise return-to-play progressions to protect athlete health.
• Perform musculoskeletal exams, collect histories, diagnose injuries, and develop clear, actionable care plans.
• Document evaluations and treatments accurately and timely to ensure continuity of care and compliance.
• Conduct occupational health and rehab services including post-offer employment testing (POETs), desk assessments, FPNs, and functional progress assessments.
• Coordinate schedules and coverage for athletic events and work collaboratively with coaches, parents, athletes, and clinical staff.
• Serve as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic: take histories, assist with scheduling surgeries, and provide patient education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required
• Minimum 1+ years related work experience
• Current Athletic Trainer license in Wisconsin required
• Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Intermediate to expert computer proficiency and strong documentation skills
• Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and compassion

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology

• Injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation
• Musculoskeletal assessment and examinations
• Concussion assessment and management
• Emergency care and first-response skills
• Occupational health services including POETs and functional assessments
• Experience as a physician extender in orthopedic clinic settings (scheduling surgeries, patient education)
• Strong documentation practices and electronic record proficiency
• Team coordination, event coverage logistics, and effective communication with athletes/coaches/families
