Shift Type: Night shift, 4x12 (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM), typically 4 nights per week; every-other-weekend coverage required and holidays as scheduled; nights, weekends and holiday coverage expected with floating between like units as needed
Hours per Week: 48
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert ventilator management and respiratory care for critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU, ensuring best-practice, evidence-based interventions
- Perform thorough respiratory assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and adjust therapies based on patient response
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced Level III trauma/teaching hospital to optimize patient outcomes
- Document all care accurately and efficiently in Epic, maintaining clear communication and continuity of care
- Float between like units as needed to meet facility needs while maintaining high standards of care
- Cover weekends and observed holidays as required and participate in department-required education and orientation
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — required
- Valid state respiratory therapist license for North Carolina (pending licenses are not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory/ICU experience (comfortable with adult and pediatric ICU patients)
- Proven experience with ventilator management and critical care respiratory protocols
- Experience charting in Epic (facility uses Epic for documentation)
- Willingness to work nights, float between units, and provide weekend/holiday coverage as scheduled
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or higher preferred)
- RRT credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Critical care assessment and intervention skills for adult and pediatric populations
- Comfort working in a Level III trauma center and adapting to teaching-hospital workflows
- Proficient Epic documentation and clinical charting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in an interdisciplinary environment
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and respond quickly in high-acuity situations
