Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based maternity nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients during night shifts
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and assessment, escalating concerns promptly to the interdisciplinary team
• Manage labor support, assist with deliveries as needed, and participate in newborn transition of care
• Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and document all care accurately in the EMR
• Educate and support patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn safety
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and nursery staff to ensure smooth, patient-centered care transitions
• Contribute to a safe workplace by following infection control protocols and unit policies

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in New York (or compact RN with NY authorization where applicable)
• Previous maternity/OB experience preferred; travel nursing experience a plus
• Current BLS required; NRP or other neonatal certifications encouraged
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and every-other-weekend rotations
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and clinical OB/Maternity practicum

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart monitoring (electronic fetal monitoring) and interpretation
• Labor progression assessment and intrapartum support
• Newborn transition and basic neonatal care
• IV insertion, medication administration, and emergency response
• Accurate EMR documentation and handoff communication
• Critical thinking, triage, and teamwork in fast-paced maternity settings
