Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU, ensuring safe recovery
• Assess and continuously monitor vital signs, pain, and neuro status to detect changes early
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care
• Educate and support families and caregivers about recovery, discharge instructions, and follow-up
• Administer medications and interventions safely, following established protocols
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Participate actively in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Massachusetts) or eligible for licensure in MA
• Experience or interest in PACU nursing, specifically pediatric (Peds) populations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with post-operative pediatric patients and family-centered care
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia recovery assessment and monitoring
• Pediatric airway and pain management basics
• IV medication administration and safe narcotic handling
• Familiarity with PACU workflows and postoperative protocols
• Proficient documentation in EMR systems and clear handoff communication
• Strong teamwork, situational awareness, and family-centered communication
