Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, monitoring vitals and recovery progress
• Assess patients continuously and intervene promptly to maintain safety and comfort
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, adhering to safety protocols
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the perioperative team to ensure seamless patient transitions
• Educate families on postoperative care and recovery expectations in a clear, supportive way
• Document patient status, interventions, and discharge criteria accurately and timely

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri, or compact license where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Prior PACU experience or pediatric post-anesthesia experience preferred
• Comfortable working with children and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric post-anesthesia assessment and recovery care
• Airway and pain management for pediatric patients
• Medication administration and safety practices
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate charting
• Ability to communicate effectively with families and care teams
• Clinical prioritization and rapid assessment in a PACU setting
