Roles & Responsibilities

• Investigate and document CMS-defined grievances promptly, ensuring timely intake and thorough responses
• Provide clinical oversight for event reporting, triage, and escalation to safeguard patient safety
• Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), and monitor corrective action plans through to completion
• Support regulatory inquiries, complaint investigations, and survey readiness to maintain compliance and readiness
• Conduct mortality and medical record reviews with attention to detail and clinical context
• Collaborate with clinicians to clarify documentation and resolve queries for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain continuity of critical risk management and patient safety functions across departments

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience required (hard stop)
• BLS certification required
• Inpatient Acute Care experience required
• Experience with Epic (charting system) required
• Critical Care or Emergency Department experience is a strong plus
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travel clinicians may be considered if they meet the 2+ years experience requirement

Education

• Education not explicitly specified; clinical licensure and 2 years of clinical experience required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of risk management, patient safety, and clinical oversight
• Experience with mortality chart review and medical record review processes
• Skilled in grievance handling, complaint investigation, and CMS-defined processes
• Proficiency in event reporting, triage, escalation, and corrective action planning
• Experience facilitating RCAs and FMEAs
• Comfort working with audits, file review, and survey readiness activities
• Excellent communication skills for engaging clinicians and resolving documentation queries
• Familiarity with inpatient acute care workflows and teaching/community hospital settings
