Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care across ICU and med-surg/telemetry areas using protocol-driven practices
• Manage ventilators (Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo) and perform ventilator checks and adjustments
• Perform ABGs, EKGs, and initiate/monitor NIV and HFNC therapy for respiratory patients
• Deliver breathing treatments, IPV, PEP/PAP therapy and other respiratory interventions
• Float to all areas except NICU as needed while maintaining high-quality patient care
• Collaborate with hospitalists, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams for 24/7 coverage
• Serve as patient advocate and educator for COPD, asthma, pneumonia, CHF and other common diagnoses

Qualifications

• RRT license required (California) — CRT will not be accepted
• Must have travel experience prior to this assignment
• 2-5 years' experience in critical care (explicit requirement)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS (NPS required if working in NICU)
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and cover every-other-weekend and most holidays

Education

• Valid RRT credential (state of California) — required
• NPS credential if seeking NICU assignments

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting (Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo)
• Arterial blood gas interpretation (ABGs) and NIV/HFNC therapy
• Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols — facility is strictly protocol driven
• EKG monitoring and telemetry (GE experience helpful)
• Strong critical care assessment and patient stabilization skills
• Comfort floating across med-surg, telemetry, and ICU settings
