Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to keep patients safe
• Titrate IV drips and manage vasoactive medications per protocol
• Provide cardiac/stepdown care for intermediate and downgraded CVICU patients
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and cardiology for late‑hour consults
• Support the thoracic, EP, cath lab, and structural heart services with skilled nursing care
• Supervise and coordinate with patient care techs and remote telemetry techs
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiac/stepdown or similar patient population
• Comfortable titrating drips such as amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and diltiazem
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry and manage 1:3 to 1:4 nurse:patient ratios
• Driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a 90% score (open book)

Education

• Active RN license (Associate or Diploma acceptable; BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• IV drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record
• Familiarity with BiPAP, CPAP, and advanced respiratory support troubleshooting
• Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment in cardiac scenarios
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
