Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator settings and provide advanced ventilator support across ICU, med/surg and telemetry units
• Perform and interpret ABGs, deliver breathing treatments, and conduct EKGs to inform patient care
• Implement and follow Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality care
• Provide and titrate NIV, HFNC therapy, IPV, and PEP/PAP therapy based on patient needs
• Float to assigned areas (excluding NICU) and adapt quickly to varied patient populations
• Collaborate with hospitalists and the multidisciplinary team to optimize respiratory outcomes
• Serve as a reliable resource during nights, weekends and holidays, maintaining continuous RT coverage

Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — California RRT required (CRT not accepted)
• Must have travel experience and 2-5 years of critical care experience (posting indicates 3 years preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS required; NRP and PALS required — NPS required if you want NICU shifts
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy
• Comfortable working in a protocol-driven environment and with Cerner EMR
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend; reliable, flexible, and team-oriented

Education

• Active RRT license for the state of California (required)
• NPS credential if seeking NICU assignments (preferred for NICU work)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management (Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo)
• ABGs interpretation, NIV, HFNC, IPV, PEP/PAP therapy
• EKG monitoring and interpretation; experience with GE telemetry
• Critical care respiratory support across ICU, med/surg and telemetry
• Experience with Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols and protocol-based decision making
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and acute care workflows
