Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and sedation drips safely and according to protocol
• Monitor and troubleshoot advanced support devices such as ECMO, CRRT, Impella, and IABP
• Perform ventilator management and collaborate with respiratory therapy on device care
• Interpret telemetry and rhythm strips independently to detect changes quickly
• Document accurately in EPIC and communicate care plans clearly during handoffs
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including in-house intensivists and hospitalists
• Float to other inpatient units as needed while maintaining CVICU standards of care

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (eligible to submit in the facility's state)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS listed as required for submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience caring for CVICU or comparable cardiac surgical patients
• Proven ability to titrate drips and manage advanced hemodynamic support
• Comfort with ECMO and CRRT or similar extracorporeal therapies
• Driver's license required at submittal to meet radius rule

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, diploma, or BSN acceptable). BSN not required
• Active RN license appropriate for practice location

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in telemetry interpretation and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Experience with ventilator management and troubleshooting respiratory devices
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and documentation workflows
• Hands-on experience with Impella, IABP, ECMO, and CRRT technologies
• Ability to manage vasoactive, paralytic, analgesic, and sedation drips safely
• Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and communication under pressure
