Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine
Location: Edmonds, WA
Start Date: 05-04-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Day shift, 4x10 schedule; Thursdays and weekends off)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, height/weight, pulse oximetry and history to support quality care
- Prepare exam rooms and charting materials in EPIC so providers can focus on patients
- Collect and label specimens (urine, clean catch) and perform point-of-care testing such as glucometer and strep
- Administer injections and immunizations (intramuscular and intradermal) safely and confidently
- Obtain 12-lead EKGs and assist with other routine diagnostics to help with timely diagnosis
- Handle administrative tasks like pharmacy refill requests and follow-up phone calls to keep care coordinated
- Document accurately in the chart and communicate findings to the care team to support excellent patient outcomes
- Provide compassionate, geriatric-focused care and help patients feel heard and respected
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) required; MA-R, MA-P, or MA-HT not eligible
- Minimum 1 year experience as an MA-C in an adult outpatient clinic or primary care setting
- BLS certification preferred; CMA credential is a plus
- Comfortable charting in EPIC (experience preferred)
- Skilled in injections, specimen collection, and basic point-of-care testing
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work the specified 4x10 day schedule
Education
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) - required
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical assisting coursework preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with vital signs, pulse oximetry, height/weight measurements
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record charting
- Skilled in specimen collection, labeling, and basic lab testing (urine dipstick, strep, glucometer)
- Competent performing 12-lead EKGs
- Comfortable administering intramuscular and intradermal injections and immunizations
- Strong administrative skills: chart prep, pharmacy refill coordination, follow-up calls
- Patient-centered communication, especially with adult and geriatric populations
- Organizational skills to manage a steady daily census and multiple exam rooms
