Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality MedSurg nursing care for acute patients and post-op recovery patients
• Use EPIC for accurate, timely charting and clinical documentation
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care while maintaining 1:5 patient ratios
• Float within scope to support unit needs, including MedSurg and post-op recovery areas
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient transitions and excellent outcomes
• Serve as a reliable resource during orientation and skills verification; complete required open-book skills exam

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to submit for Nebraska)
• BLS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius verification)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred (posting indicates 2 years); unit will consider first-time travelers
• At least 1 year of charge nurse experience required to function in a charge role
• Comfortable caring for MedSurg patients, oncology med/surg overflow, and post-op recovery

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required (BSN preferred but optional)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg clinical skills and patient assessment
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Familiarity with respiratory support including nasal cannula
• Ability to maintain safe 1:5 patient ratios and prioritize care effectively
• Flexibility to float between MedSurg and post-op/recovery areas
• Competence in following facility policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail restrictions) and safety protocols
