Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment with precision
• Perform quality checks and instrument inspections to ensure patient safety
• Maintain accurate sterilization records and follow infection control protocols
• Prep and package instrument sets for a variety of surgical specialties
• Collaborate with OR staff and clinical teams to ensure timely instrument availability
• Troubleshoot sterilization equipment issues and escalate when needed
• Help maintain inventory levels and organize sterile supply areas

Qualifications

• Prior sterile processing (SPD) or central sterile experience preferred
• Familiarity with sterilization processes, instrument handling and infection control best practices
• Certification preferred (e.g., CRCST, CBSPD) or willingness to pursue certification
• Ability to follow detailed protocols, document actions accurately, and work in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Ability to lift and handle equipment typical to sterile processing duties

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; Sterile Processing certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterilization methods (autoclave, chemical sterilants) and biological indicators
• Skill in instrument inspection, assembly, and set preparation
• Understanding of infection prevention and sterile technique
• Familiarity with sterilization documentation and basic inventory control
• Comfort working with surgical teams and responding to urgent instrument needs
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
