Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts across all days of the week including weekends; Days: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Mids: varied starts between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM; Nights: varied starts between 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM; schedule posted at least 2 weeks in advance; every-other-weekend requirement; self-scheduling by seniority; call approximately 1 day per month (may be 2 on your team's turn).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rapid, high-quality assessment, triage, and treatment for trauma, stroke, pediatric, psychiatric and high-acuity emergency patients
• Manage telemetry, ventilators and complex critical care interventions as needed
• Perform accurate and timely documentation using Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Interpret dysrhythmias and pass a proctored dysrhythmia test administered on day one
• Collaborate closely with RT, pharmacy, hospitalists and intensivists who are available 24/7
• Participate in unit call rotation and support team staffing, stepping up as a team leader when needed
• Support a culture of teamwork and help lead initiatives to improve ER efficiency and morale

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for California submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Nursing or another high-volume, high-acuity ER
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS; PALS and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Experience with telemetry, ventilator management and caring for trauma Level II patients preferred
• Travel nursing experience is a plus and may allow for expanded patient assignments based on unit policy

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (ADN or BSN both acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in emergency assessment, triage and high-acuity interventions
• Comfort with trauma, stroke, pediatrics and psychiatric emergency care
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record charting
• Dysrhythmia recognition and telemetry interpretation
• Ventilator management fundamentals and working with RT teams
• Strong teamwork, communication and ability to function in a fast-paced, high-volume ER
