Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate patient care during the night shift, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
- Perform thorough nursing assessments and develop timely care plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and self-care before discharge
- Respond effectively to emergencies and escalate concerns to appropriate providers
- Maintain accurate, timely electronic charting and handoffs at shift change
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — California RN license preferred or RN compact eligibility
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) encouraged or preferred
- Clinical experience in acute care or relevant specialty preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work overnight hours and adapt to a per diem schedule
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, medication administration, and IV therapy
- Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and accurate charting
- Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with acute care protocols, safety standards, and infection control
- Prioritization and time-management skills in fast-paced settings
