Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Day 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; every other weekend required (Fri/Sat nights, Sat/Sun days); holidays rotate with staff; optional on-call 4-hour increments when low census (must be within 20 minutes)

Hours per Week: 36

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Labor & Delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Perform continuous fetal heart monitoring and advanced fetal assessment using Cerner Fetal Links
• Triage patients and serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and resources
• Collaborate closely with Level II NICU staff and Stanford-attending nurses for higher-acuity deliveries
• Document clearly in Cerner PowerChart Maternity and maintain accurate patient records
• Float to Postpartum in rotation with permanent staff and assist across couplet care as needed
• Participate in NSTs and support lactation care plans with lactation nurses on shift
• Maintain infant security procedures and support family-centered care in LDRP rooms

Qualifications

• Active RN license (License to submit: Yes)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (job lists 2 years)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP and Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Comfort and experience with fetal heart monitoring and obstetric triage
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends and holiday rotations
• Completion of the required orientation (12 orientation hours plus 3 unit shifts: 2 L&D, 1 MB)

Education

• Nursing degree or diploma acceptable (BSN not required as listed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery nursing best practices and couplet care
• Advanced fetal monitoring and fetal heart monitoring (FHM) interpretation
• Proficiency with Cerner PowerChart (Maternity) and Cerner Fetal Links
• Obstetric triage and charge nurse responsibilities
• Experience collaborating with Level II NICU and neonatal teams
• Postpartum care, lactation support familiarity, and patient education
• Comfort working with diverse populations and translation services (higher Mandarin volume)
• Ability to respond to emergency situations (ACLS/NRP) and work with anesthesia/RT teams
