Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU/CVICU and PCU patients, including post-op cardiac and complex medical cases
• Interpret EKGs and monitor telemetry (Nihon Kohden) — you’ll be reading your own strips
• Manage and titrate critical care drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics) safely and accurately
• Perform ventilator troubleshooting and weaning, and assist with advanced airway management tools like Glidescope
• Initiate and manage CRRT (Prismaflex) when indicated, and care for advanced devices (IABP, Impella, VADs)
• Provide hands-on care for EVDs, chest tubes, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters and interpret ABGs
• Participate in rapid response and code blue teams when needed and support unit surge and staffing needs
• Document thoroughly in Cerner and collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, and multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Current RN license for the state of Arizona (license to submit required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years critical care/ICU nursing experience (posting indicates 2 years)
• Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills (must pass dysrhythmia exam with ≥80% within two attempts prior to contract signing)
• Experience with ventilator management, drip titration, and ABG interpretation
• Prefer experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT; exposure to cardiac surgical care, Impella, TAVR, and VAD devices is a plus
• Ability to float across ICU/PCU and other critical care areas and work nights/weekends as scheduled
• Willingness to complete unit-specific orientation and skills check-offs

Education

• Active RN license (Arizona)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation (Nihon Kohden experience helpful)
• EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation and dysrhythmia exam readiness
• Ventilator troubleshooting and weaning techniques
• Critical care drip management and titration (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, etc.)
• CRRT (Prismaflex) and familiarity with renal replacement therapies
• Care for advanced devices: IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR
• Management of EVDs, chest tubes, arterial lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
